PFAS in printed circuit boards - test results confirm safety for the time being

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are currently a hot topic in the electronics industry. The discussion about the reduction or complete elimination of PFAS in products raises many questions - including whether and to what extent printed circuit boards could be affected by PFAS. As a responsible supplier of high-quality printed circuit boards, we at Leiton GmbH have taken measures to clarify this issue. In cooperation with TÜV Süd, we have had both a rigid and a flexible printed circuit board from our range tested for the presence of PFAS.
Results of the PFAS tests
TÜV Süd tested our products for 100 known PFAS substances - a selection that covers common and particularly relevant representatives of this substance group.
The result: The PCBs tested did not contain any PFAS or were well below the applicable legal limits or the detection limit.
Our assessment
Although the study only covers the most common PFAS and the group of these substances includes more than 10,000 representatives in total, the result nevertheless shows that printed circuit boards - at least in our case - are little or not at all affected by this issue. This is a positive signal both for our customers and for the electronics industry as a whole.
Our responsibility for the environment and safety
Leiton GmbH stands for transparency and quality. Therefore, we would like to share this test result with you and thus contribute to clarifying the uncertainties in dealing with PFAS in the electronics industry. For further information and the complete test report of TÜV Süd we provide you with the results on our website:
We will continue to monitor developments with regard to PFAS and will do everything in our power to offer you safe and sustainable products in the future.
